WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAMME

A combination of morning English classes and voluntary work experience in the afternoon, this course will suit students who want to be fully immersed in an authentic English speaking environment while gaining valuable experience in the work area of their choice.

Accommodation in carefully selected host families in Cahersiveen and the surrounding villages

Three hours of voluntary work experience in the afternoon in a local business

Transfers to and from Kerry Airport and Cork airport included (weekends only)

Two evening activities  & one full day Saturday excursion per week.

Private transport to and from school and activities wherever necessary

JWP: Junior Work Experience

Students attend Asana lessons from 9 am to 1 pm, Monday to Friday. In the afternoon, they work as volunteers in local businesses for approximately three hours daily. Placements include bars, restaurants, cafes, small shops, tourist facilities and summer camps.  

Asana will prepare you to cope with the busy times and slack times in your place of work and to engage in English with staff members, customers and a student of different nationalities.

Students are welcome to participate in Asana excursions on Saturdays, any days off from work, and in our evening activities twice weekly.

The minimum age for our work placement course is sixteen, and students should have a good intermediate (minimum B2) level of English to chat with members and other staff members in a relaxed way.

Placements include bars, restaurants, cafes, cottage industries, computer centres, childcare, outdoor pursuits centres and tourist services.

Asana will prepare you as best we can to cope with the busy times and slack times in your place of work, and you will be speaking English at all times with a member of staff or student of different nationality.

TRANSFERS

Transfers from and to Cork Airport and Kerry Airport are included in the following prices provided that students travel on the Saturday or Sunday before and after their course. 

Flights should arrive before 9pm Irish time. Of these two days Sunday is by far the best day to travel so that students may join classes immediately the following day, and also enjoy their final full day Saturday excursion with their friends.

Classes begin at 9am on the first Monday of the course and end on the final Saturday.
