RACHEL ALLEN

Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever. Mahatma Gandhi

I’ve taught in Ireland and South Korea, I hail from Virginia, USA, and I am on a mission to travel the world. I can be found in a classroom, a library, or a garden, and I absolutely love animals.

If you are curious about globe trotting or growing your own garden, I can help you out. I love baking sweet treats and sharing them with friends, too. When I’m not too busy, I like to practice yoga and read books while sunbathing.

I try not to take life so seriously and hope to spread that joy and glee wherever I go. My favorite saying is Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses.

You are never too old to set a new goal or dream a new dream, CS Lewis

I have been teaching at Asana for the past two years and it is a refreshing experience. Asana is a big family where every member develops holistically in an environment that allows ever member to flourish, through being true to themselves.

You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope some day you’ll join us…..’ John Lennon

Max

MAX THIEMANN

I’ve been a teacher in Asana for five years, instead of a biography I wrote a poem:
If trouble you have coming out of your shell,
The classes of Max will suit very well.
You’ll enter the room with a face full of wonder,
Before leaving again with a whole lot to ponder.
What happens within that magical hour,
Will guide you for life and leave you empowered.
With ‘emotional’ expressions and slang as a focal,
You’ll definitely know how to impress all the locals.
With the confidence gained from attending my classes,
You’ll flourish and prosper, even entertain masses.
Sense of humour and knowledge I hope to expand,
Because laughter and learning, they go hand in hand.
So come to my classes and you won’t regret,
It’ll be an experience you’ll never forget.

SEAN O’LAOGHAIRE

SEAN O’LAOGHAIRE

A teacher, storyteller, puppeteer, artist, writer, but most of all, an igniter of the imagination! Sean is always coming up with new ideas for engaging students in the creative process.

Sean shares Irish stories, mythology and folklore to give Asana participants an introduction to Irish culture as well as using these stories and myths as tools for making sense of today’s world and our place within it.

This year saw the birth of the “Tribal Challenge” where Sean takes students into the countryside and asks them to build something using natural materials – trees, grass and stone.
The challenge is not just in the creation of ‘living sculptures’ but in the working together as a tribe, in a spirit of inclusiveness. It is such a great experience for participants who get to learn so much about themselves and others.

Sean says “It feels so special to be working at Asana where the learner learning is more important than the teacher teaching, ensuring a stimulating, focused and fun time for all”
